The Backward Classes Welfare and Tribal Development Department, under the Government of West Bengal, focuses on empowering marginalized communities through education, welfare, and development initiatives. It aims to ensure socio-economic upliftment of SC, ST, and OBC groups via inclusive policy-making and targeted schemes like the Oasis Scholarship Portal, which serves as a one-stop platform for student financial assistance.
The Oasis Scholarship provides financial aid to SC, ST, and OBC students studying in Class 9 and above across West Bengal. It is divided into two categories: Pre-Matric (Class 9–10) and Post-Matric (Class 11 to Postgraduate). Applicants can register online, upload necessary documents, and renew their scholarship each academic year. The aim is to reduce dropout rates and ensure continuous education by covering essential academic expenses.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a permanent resident of West Bengal
- Belong to SC, ST, or OBC category
- Enrolled in a recognized educational institution
- Family annual income:
- SC/ST: Less than ₹2.5 lakh
- OBC: Less than ₹1 lakh
- Must apply for the correct category (Pre or Post-Matric)
Application Process
- Visit https://oasis.gov.in
- Click on “Student Registration”
- Select your district and complete the form
- Upload the following documents:
- Caste certificate
- Income certificate
- Marksheet of last exam
- Aadhaar card
- Bank passbook
- Submit form and take a printout
- Submit hard copy to your institute’s office for verification
- For renewals, use the “Renew Scholarship” tab on the portal
