Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an active scientist/engineer in service at an Indian institution
- Demonstrated high-level performance (e.g., Shanti S. Bhatnagar Prize or fellowship of a science academy)
- Must be an Indian national employed in India
- Upper age limit: 68 years
- Active nominations only; no self-applications accepted
Application Process
- Nomination can be submitted anytime by:
- Heads of Institutions
- Existing J.C. Bose Fellows
- Presidents of National Science Academies
- Online via ANRF portal:
- Nominator registers → fills nominee details (CV, specialization, employment)
- Upload research contributions (last 5 years, under 10 MB PDF)
- Submit recommendation letter
- Selection is overseen by a Search-cum-Selection Committee, typically twice annually
- After selection, ANRF issues an award letter → fellow sends acceptance/month selection → sanction order is issued → fellowship begins
