The CSIR-Nehru Science Postdoctoral Research Fellowship aims to identify and support young researchers with innovative ideas, providing them with training and research opportunities in niche areas of basic science, engineering, medicine, and agriculture. The fellowship facilitates the transition from mentored to independent research careers by offering access to CSIR’s advanced R&D facilities.
Benefits:
- Monthly fellowship of ₹80,000 plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as admissible
- Contingency grant of ₹3 lakh per annum (25% can be used for travel expenses)

Eligibility Criteria
- PhD degree holders within three years of award or those who have submitted their PhD thesis
- Applicants should have research publications in high-impact SCI journals
- Maximum age limit: 32 years (relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/Physically handicapped and women candidates; 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates)
- Open to Indian nationals, PIOs, OCIs, and up to 20% of fellowships may be offered to foreign nationals
Application Process
- Download the application form from the CSIR-HRDG website
- Fill in the required details and prepare necessary documents, including:
- Detailed research proposal
- List of publications
- Attested copies of academic certificates
- No Objection Certificate (if employed)
- Testimonials from two referees
- Obtain attestation from the Director of the sponsoring CSIR laboratory
