Program Overview!

The Nuffield Foundation, established in 1943, is a UK charitable trust dedicated to advancing social well-being through rigorous research and innovation. With a focus on education, welfare, and justice, it funds evidence-based projects aiming to shape public policy and practice. The Foundation supports interdisciplinary methodologies and co-production with communities, striving to empower underrepresented groups. The Racial Diversity UK programme aligns with its mission by addressing racial inequality, colonial legacies, and the evolving demographic landscape in modern Britain.

Are you passionate about advancing racial equity in the UK? The Racial Diversity UK programme offers three key reasons to apply: grants ranging from £15K–£750K, support for impactful research, and inclusivity for researchers from racially minoritised communities. Aimed at studies exploring barriers, solutions, and the social benefits of growing diversity, it’s ideal for academics, practitioners, and community-led teams. With a deadline on 14 October 2025, this is your chance to influence public debate, policy, and practice—and accelerate change toward a more inclusive UK.

Racial Diversity UK is a competitive research fund aimed at exploring the root causes, enduring barriers, and transformative opportunities of racial diversity in the UK. It welcomes varied methodological approaches—quantitative, qualitative, applied, and participatory—with a minimum focus on race and ethnicity. The program encourages collaborative partnerships between researchers and racially minoritised communities. Grants aim to generate actionable insights that influence public conversation, policy development, and effective interventions.
